Welcome to the May 19, 2026 Primary Election cycle for Coos County. April 28, 2026 is the deadline for new voter registrations, and political party changes, in order to be eligible to participate in this election.
No voter in Oregon will receive all candidates on their ballot. In Oregon, Primary Elections are set up, in part, for major political parties to nominate who they would like to appear on the General Election ballot, where partisan candidates such as Governor, are actually elected. If a voter would like to participate in a major political party’s nominations, they must be registered with that political party not later than 21 days before the date of the election, April 28, 2026. Those registered with a minor political party, as well as those not affiliated with a party, will only receive nonpartisan races on their ballot.
Ballots will be mailed to all active, registered Coos County, voters on April 29, 2026. If a voter does not receive their ballot by Thursday, May 7th, please contact the Coos County Elections Office by phone at (541) 396-7610 or email at elections@co.coos.or.us. Voters can go online, beginning approximately 45 days before the election, to check on the status of their ballot at www.oregonvotes.gov/myvote.
Coos County does not produce a voters’ pamphlet. The Oregon Secretary of State produces a voters’ pamphlet for Primary and General elections. Each household can expect to receive one voters’ pamphlet, regardless of voter registration. The voters’ pamphlet provided by the Oregon Secretary of State can also be viewed on their website beginning approximately 20 days before the election at www.oregonvotes.gov. It is up to the discretion of the candidate, whether or not they want, to submit a statement in the Oregon Voter’s Pamphlet, at the candidate’s expense.
The May 19, 2026 Primary Election will be certified no later than June 15, 2026.
