Want to file by paying a fee? Please note, when the County Clerk is the filing officer, payments must be in the form of cash, check or money order made out to "Coos County Clerk".

  • County and City candidates file using SEL 101
    • County candidates pay $50.00 to the Coos County Clerk
    • City candidates must check with their City Elections Officer to see if this is an option
    • County candidates may be subject to additional requirements. Please contact the Elections Office regarding the office sought for more information.
  • District candidates file using SEL 190
    • $10 is paid to the Coos County Clerk
    • Coos Soil & Water candidates file with the Oregon Department of Agriculture
  • Precinct Committeepersons (PCPs) file using SEL 105 if they want their name to appear on the ballot
    • There is no cost required to file for PCP
    • If someone wants to have their write-ins counted, they file SEL 105D
    • If someone wants to have another person's write-ins counted, they file SEL 105N

Want to file by gathering signatures?

  • County and City candidates file using SEL 101
    • SEL 121 must be filed and approved before signatures can be gathered
      • County candidates file with the Coos County Clerk
      • City candidates file with their City Elections Officer
    • The filing officer reviews for required information and, if complete, provides written approval to circulate the prospective petition
    • The candidate can then collect at least the minimum number of required signatures. This number is given at the time of approval.
    • Once at least 100% of required signatures have been gathered, signature sheets are submitted to the filing officer with SEL 338
      • It is highly encouraged to gather more signatures than are required
      • Please note, signatures must be verified before the filing deadline in order to have been filed timely.
  • District candidates file using SEL 190
    • Coos Soil & Water candidates file with the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
    • The candidate uses SEL 121 to gather at least the minimum number of required signatures. The highest number of signatures that may need to be gathered is 25. For an exact number, contact the Elections Office.
      • There is no requirement for district candidates to have their SEL 121s approved prior to gathering signatures.
    • The candidate turns in the above forms along with SEL 338 after they have gathered at least 100% of required signatures.
      • It is highly encouraged to gather more signatures than are required
      • Please note, signatures must be verified before the filing deadline in order to have been filed timely.

Want to withdraw your filing?

  • All candidates use SEL 150 to the appropriate filing officer
    • County and District candidates file with the Coos County Clerk
    • City candidates file with their City Elections Officer
    • Please note, SEL 105D and 105N, for PCPs, are not subject to being withdrawn
